Wetland & Riparian Assessments

Kleinschmidt provides a wide range of wetland assessment services, including wetlands delineation, functional assessments, impact assessments, and wetlands restoration, enhancement, and creation. Our wetland scientists are highly familiar with the federal NEPA process, as well as state permitting processes. Kleinschmidt personnel have received U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS) and Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) sponsored training in wetland classification, identification, inventory, and soil sciences. Kleinschmidt wetland scientists are familiar with the following methods of wetland functional analysis: U.S. ACOE Highway Methodology, WEThings, New Hampshire and Connecticut Methods, HGM, Wet II, and the Evaluation for Planned Wetlands. Our staff has successfully completed numerous projects involving wetlands delineation and determinations of existing conditions, wetlands impact assessment, and mitigation planning. These projects have typically involved collecting and compiling data on wetland plant communities, soils, aquatic and terrestrial wildlife habitat, and hydrology; delineation and classification according to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service National Wetlands Inventory Mapping Standards; and developing computer-generated base maps derived from low altitude photography, cover type signature classification, and intensive ground-truthing.
