Stephen T. Ruell is a Senior Structural Engineer and Project Manager at Kleinschmidt. Mr. Ruell holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees from Cornell University, majoring in structural engineering. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Maine, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Vermont, New York, Massachusetts, Illinois, Missouri and California.
Mr. Ruell has over 30 years experience as a project manager and structural design engineer supporting the hydroelectric industry. He has been involved in a variety of commercial, industrial, and institutional structures, including several major hydroelectric projects, numerous rehabilitation projects on existing stations, and studies assessing life extension options. He specializes in hydropower design, dam design, gates and flashboards, marine and waterfront design, and recreation facility study and design. His work includes analysis and design of new structures in concrete, steel, aluminum, plastic, and wood, as well as renovations and repairs to existing structures. He is co-author of the computer analysis program used by the firm and accepted by FERC for dam safety evaluations.
Mr. Ruell is a member of the American Concrete Institute, American Institute of Steel Construction, American Society of Civil Engineers, Tau Beta Pi Honorary Society and National Hydropower Association.
