Wallenpaupack Relicensing
PPL Generation, LLC
Wallenpaupack Creek & Lackawaxen River, PA
Kleinschmidt assisted PPL with all aspects of the relicensing
process for
the Wallenpaupack Project which includes a concrete dam and powerhouse containing
two 44 MW generating units on a 5300 acre lake in Pennsylvania. Kleinschmidt
developed and provided relicensing team education and held meetings to discuss
ground rules, decision making, and preliminary issues. Kleinschmidt assisted
in preparing an APEA and FERC documents, including the license application,
and the ICP and SD1.
During the licensing process, Kleinschmidt's role also included study scoping and conducting environmental and engineering studies to address the key issues of water flow below the project, water quality, public access, and recreation effects on the lake and white water boating.
Kleinschmidt staff were active participants in over 30 Relicensing Team meetings over a three year period. Approximately 40 local and national groups including the Delaware River Basin Commission, Pocono Power Boaters Association, and Pennsylvania Anglers Sportsman's Association have been involved with this project.
