Engineering Services Manager
Kleinschmidt has an immediate full-time opening in our offices located in Maine or Pennsylvania for a Engineering Services Manager.
Kleinschmidt Associates, a nationally known engineering and environmental services consulting firm with regional offices coast to coast, is seeking an Engineering Services Manager for our Hydroelectric Design Groups with a minimum of 20 years experience in the engineering design and management of hydroelectric and water resource projects. This position would be located in either our Maine or Pennsylvania offices and travel will be required.
The ideal candidate will have a current and broad level of expertise in applicable technical discipline(s) such as civil, hydraulic, structural, mechanical, or electrical engineering that will allow them to understand and solve our client’s needs and devise programs for development of our design services staff. They would also possess management experience to lead staff toward attainment of the company’s strategic goals. Professional Engineering registration or the ability to obtain registration in several states is required.
Primary responsibilities and required abilities include but are not limited to:
- Business Development. Conduct client and business development activities to establish and maintain long-term relationships. Serve as a designated client contact on both technical and/or contractual issues.
- Large Project Management. Ability to develop and monitor project scopes, budgets, and schedules through all project phases from initiation through final construction.
- Technical Development. Annually assess technical skill capabilities and needs for market segment and work with Team Leaders and Human Resources to define training or recruitment efforts to fulfill those needs.
- Administration. Develop and administer marketing budgets; oversee performance review process for all market segment staff; work with Department Manager and Team Leaders to resolve disciplinary and performance issues; ability to mentor Team Leaders and technical staff.

Senior Hydro Engineering Consultant
Kleinschmidt is seeking a Senior Hydro Engineering Consultant to help lead engineering efforts for our Madison, Wisconsin office location.
Qualifications:
- Experience with complex design, repairs, and/or construction of hydro projects
- Ability to work directly with clients and forge long term professional relationships
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and remotely
- Interest and demonstrated ability to market firm services and capabilities
- Actively participates in local, state or national engineering societies or associations
- Possesses highly developed oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage projects
- Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and hold a Professional Engineer license
- A minimum of 10 years of experience as a consulting hydro engineer or in a related field such as with a hydro utility
- Must possess current authorization to work in the United States.
The successful candidate will immediately begin business development efforts and participate as part of a team of technical professionals working on hydro and other “green energy” projects in the U.S. with a focus in the Midwest Region. Entry-Level Civil/Structural Engineer
Kleinschmidt has an immediate full-time opening in either our Pittsfield or Falmouth, Maine, office for an Entry-Level Civil/Structural Engineer.
Qualifications:
- BSCE in Structural Engineering. A Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or related solid mechanics background is desirable.
- Passed or qualified to take EIT exam - work toward PE registration
- Broad analytical skills
- Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel

Entry-Level Civil Engineer
Kleinschmidt has an immediate full-time opening in our Strasburg, Pennsylvania, office for an Entry-Level Civil Engineer specializing in hydrology, hydraulics and site design.
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Civil Engineering with EIT
- 1 to 2 years strong experience with Civil 3D skills, including pipe networks, surfaces, map, and grading entities.
- Civil design experience including hydrology, open channel hydraulics, storm water management and culvert design.
- Training in statics, strength of materials, engineering economic analysis, pumps, and computer languages is desirable.
- Familiarity with fluvial geomorphic design principles and river modeling is a plus.
- Experience with some or all of the following programs is desirable; HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-ResSim, Flo-2D and EPA-SWMM.

This position involves work with industrial and utility projects with regard to generation systems, switchgear, power transformers, power distribution cables and equipment, protective relaying, automation and controls.
